Why Capture This Milestone?
Your baby’s first birthday is such a special milestone – it’s the celebration of a whole year of growth, discovery, and love. These moments are fleeting, and before you know it, your tiny newborn is full of personality and curiosity. A cake smash session captures the joy, wonder, and giggles of turning one, freezing those memories into beautiful keepsakes you’ll treasure forever. It’s more than just a photoshoot – it’s a chance to celebrate everything your little one has achieved in their first year and create a fun tradition to look back on for years to come.

Cake smash sessions are designed to be relaxed, playful, and full of laughter. I’ll guide you through the whole process, from helping you choose a theme or colour scheme, to setting up a beautiful backdrop and props. Your little one will have time to settle in, explore, and most importantly – dig into their cake in their own way (whether that’s with dainty finger pokes or full-on face dives!). Sessions typically include a mix of portraits before the cake (siblings can be included as an extra), and the messy smash itself!
My aim is to capture genuine expressions, little details, and those big joyful moments, leaving you with a gallery of images that tell the story of this wonderful milestone.
 

Practical Information
Cake smash sessions usually last around 40–60 minutes, giving your little one plenty of time to warm up, play, and enjoy the fun at their own pace. You’re welcome to bring along a special outfit for the portraits at the start, and I’ll provide the backdrop, props, and styling to suit your chosen theme.

You can either bring your own cake (a simple buttercream design works best for smashing!) or I can recommend local bakers who create cakes especially for sessions. I also suggest packing a change of clothes, wipes, and a towel – things can get a little messy, and that’s all part of the fun!

My goal is to make the experience enjoyable for both you and your little one, while capturing a set of playful, timeless images that celebrate their 6 month, first or second birthday in the sweetest way possible!
